FIRST LADY TO RICHARD NIXON // #37

  • Exceedingly punctual

  • Bobsledded with the tuberculosis patients where she worked

  • Nixon proposed the day they met

  • It took him a while to get her to accept; in the meantime, he drove her to dates with other guys

  • While president, he sent her formal memos addressed to “Mrs. Nixon” written in the third person

  • Arranged a one-person art show at the White House (she was the first to do this — the artist was Andrew Wyeth)

Heather Rogers, America's Preeminent Presidential Doodler

Heather isn’t a historian, an academic, or an impartial storyteller… but she has read more than one book about every U.S. president. Out of spite. She was dubbed America’s Preeminent Presidential Doodler by one of her favorite authors and she’s been repeating it ever since. When she’s not reading or doodling history books, she’s a freelance graphic designer and illustrator.
