I thought it would be fun to share what I’m currently reading and what’s up next. And by “fun” I mean I hate making decisions and now I can delegate that to all of you. Thank you in advance.
Currently reading:
Gallop Toward the Sun: Tecumseh and William Henry Harrison's Struggle for the Destiny of a Nation
by Peter Stark
I heard about this book on The Road to Now podcast and wow. It sounds fascinating. Plus, way back when I read about William Henry Harrison I selected one of the way-too-skinny books from the presidential series. How is 176 pages enough to fully cover his life and his 31 days as presiiiii… ok, it was probably sufficient. In any case, I’m excited to learn more.

Reading this one with my teenager. He brings it to school with him every day, so honestly, I haven’t gotten very far.
Booth
by Karen Joy Fowler
Historical fiction, but I may have no choice but to doodle some stuff from it. Mind-blowing. And to think I only picked this book because none of the other books I wanted were available and this gorgeous spine jumped out at me.

A Promised Land

Last year, I bought a ton of books at a library book sale. I haven’t read any of them yet. Including this one.
President Garfield: From Radical to Unifier
by CW Goodyear
I do love Garfield.
I stumbled on this book on the day of King Charles’ coronation, it seemed far too coincidental for me not to buy it. Plus, I’m curious to learn more about “hot dog diplomacy”. Since reading about Queen Victoria, I’ve been into the royal family. Maybe I’ll pair this reading with another visit to Hyde Park.
