I’ve nearly run out of presidential birthdays to write about and I’m shifting over to the First Ladies. This isn’t First Ladies in the strictest sense — the women who filled the function of the First Lady (regardless of whether they were married to the president). This list is those married to the president (regardless of whether they married him before, after, or during the presidency — including those who were no longer married at the time of the presidency).

The only exception here is Harriet Lane. James Buchanan was the only bachelor president, so I’ve included his niece here.

As I compile the birthday posts for each month, I’ll add links below. Excited to dive into June — tied for the most First Lady birthdays and there are not one, but TWO First Ladies who share birthdays. (There are only two president who share a birthday.)

Heather Rogers, America's Preeminent Presidential Doodler

Heather isn’t a historian, an academic, or an impartial storyteller… but she has read more than one book about every U.S. president. Out of spite. She was dubbed America’s Preeminent Presidential Doodler by one of her favorite authors and she’s been repeating it ever since. When she’s not reading or doodling history books, she’s a freelance graphic designer and illustrator.
